Porte Parole at La Bourse RIDEAU

Taking a slight breather here before returning to the preparations for our trip to Quebec City. This is probably the biggest stage for Porte Parole so far, although we won’t actually be performing at La Bourse RIDEAU. What we’ll be doing instead is slightly more business-oriented but nevertheless equally as important as anything we do in the theatre.

Being a multimedia theatre company

There is a constant pressure on arts companies or individual artists to stay current with all the tools of communications. Nowadays, having a website is pretty much a necessity; no one would take anyone seriously who didn’t have one. To say “I don’t have a website” is like saying “I don’t have a telephone.”

» (Traduction : Porte Parole)

Citizen Harold from the NFB

This short animated film from the National Film Board of Canada captures neatly the spirit of  what Porte Parole as a theatre company is all about. What can individuals do when confronted with problems in their community? Do something, that’s what. Even though it can be frustrating, complicated, and a bureaucratic nightmare. Poor Harold.

How to respond to corruption in Montreal?

The Montreal election concluded last weekend with the re-election of Gerald Tremblay. Spacing Montreal has noted the irony that Louise Harel might well have won if the city mergers she implemented had never happened. At Porte Parole, it was particularly interesting to see the allegations of corruption in the construction industry that dominated the final two weeks of the campaign. Research into our play, Sexy béton, found similar allegations about the construction industry in the 1970s, which is when the Concorde overpass in Laval was built.

We’re on Google Street View

Found out from Spacing Montreal that Google brought its all-seeing eye to Montreal and a good number of other places in Canada.  Google Street View is now available for Toronto, Calgary, Banff National Park, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Squamish, Whistler, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener and Waterloo. The geek in me is DELIGHTED!  In honour of this rather exciting news, here is the Google Street View of the building on boul. St. Laurent in which Porte Parole’s offices are located.
